Goldie, The Foil Press Machine
Goldie, The hand pressed foiling machine
Back in October 2021 I bought a shiny NEW press machine to enable me to create even more variety in my wedding stationery designs, embossed stationery and gold, silver, black, pewter, brown…(the colour list goes on) foil wedding invites.
Goldie, as she has been named, is one hell of a machine. A hot foil press and embossing machine. I design stationery very much in the same way I always have but using Goldie means the wedding invites, save the dates or on the day stationery can have that extra layer of shine and texture. This really adds a luxury tone to the wedding stationery. Meaning you can now have embossed and gold wedding stationery and who doesn’t want that.
Once the design is complete I send off for press plates to be made, these metal plates are attached to the press machine and effectively are a giant stamp which presses coloured foils onto the card with both pressure and heat. This leaves a beautiful texture or indent to the card. Goldie can also emboss card. This is where a design element can made to stick out of the card.
There are SO many reasons why I love this press machine. I can mix both printed stationery and pressed stationery together too to make some really lovely designs. The invites not only look beautiful but they have a lovely texture and feel to them too. The photos show the press plates, these individual plates get attached to the machine and pressed into the card. There are so many different foil colours, these are some of my favourite. And of course Goldie herself. Here are some examples of the gold foil and embossed wedding invites made on Goldie. This wedding invite uses print and press with a touch of pink silk ribbon too.
If you have any questions about hot foil or embossed stationery please do get in touch, I am always keen to talk about this process.
